Our Division is Our True Enemy
The press is at again, taking advantage of Bush’s low internal polling approval numbers and "spinning" the riots in Argentina as (“Bush based, ….and Bush driven.”) The press claims that these riots have a lot to do with the war in Iraq, and little about Free Trade, and hardly ever mention the truth - that the riots are actually backed and driven by Venezuelan President Chavez and his communist / socialist regime and counterpart - Mr. Castro. Of course a president like Chavez, with socialist values, is never going to support a Free Trade movement, that's a given. But, with the help of the likes of Castro (who sent over 5,000 “delegates” to aid in the rioting) Chavez successfully put a hold on any agreement being reached. Even Mexican President Vicente Fox expressed irritation with his Venezuelan counterpart, saying: "This is a personal position of the Venezuelan president.". – which was quoted (and virtually buried) in a lengthy MSNBC article. However, the press would like us to think it is all because of the dictator Bush and his raging crusade against the world.
Look, we see the riots in France (which I have to admit is a good, “we told you so” & 'saw that one come'n') as radical Muslims {unemployed Muslims mind you} fight back against the snobby Frogs, we see the riots in the streets of Argentina, slews of burning U.S. flags in Iran, Syria and other Middle Eastern countries, we see Cindy “She-Ham” yelling and leading hundreds in an angry march on the Capital, and on and on. But did we see anything like this on 9/11? Did we see any riots and honest outrage (anywhere in the world) when the Twin Towers came crashing and burning down? Did we see any fits pitched when the Pentagon was slammed into and other innocent lives were taken? No. None. Yeah, yeah, OK… a candle or two were lit somewhere in Japan, and I think I remember a rose was laid down beside a photo of New York somewhere in India by an elderly women, …..but where was the outrage? No, really? I certainly saw joy, some happy faces dancing and chanting in some dusty Middle East towns because America had taken a vital hit, but where was the anger? Where was the cry for justice from our "friends"? No where. It was a ‘tough luck America, sorry,’ and that’s about it. Why didn’t the world hand us Bin Laden’s head on a platter, instead of protecting him and giving him asylum? Some one, if not many, are keeping him hidden AND giving him aid and supplies. I mean here’s the guy who took FULL responsibility for 9/11 and he’s had safe harbor all this time. Fine. So Bush tries to do something. (Mind you I don’t approve of all he’s done - not by a long shot, but he did try something at least.) He didn’t turn a blind Clinton eye and do nothing (like Willy did with the Embassy bombing in Kenya, and our harbored and docked U.S. ship that was bombed) …no, Bush went after the attackers, and he even went running after them. Sure our country rallied for about a week or two, everyone put up flags and bounced up and down for about a day, but then threw in the towel, totally.
This is not a defense on Bush, trust me. This is a question of where is our resolve as a unified nation? Where is our solidarity? Where is the ‘United’ in our ‘States’? More than that, why does the press and media (liberal or conservative) feel the hard core, deep rooted need to spin the news? Just report for Pete’s sake, …tell it like it is!!! The truth is grim enough, just look around at our planet!! They don’t need to add spikes to the wrecking ball. It doesn’t matter if the most liberal and ‘no fight is in ‘em at all’ becomes president, the world will still HATE America! It’s so insane that it’s truly beyond description. Clinton did NOTHING…….and they STILL bombed us. They dragged innocent dead U.S. Marines down a street in Somolia that were merely feeding the starving and Clinton did nothing.....and they still targeted us and they still bombed us. Doesn’t that prove anything? If we do nothing, we’re attacked. If we do something, we’re attacked. But we better get focused here at home. It is truly us against the world, as much as I hate to say it. This most recent “spin” that Chavez AND the press has tried to (and has) put on the riots shows even more clearly that world has a read, a good solid read, on the pulse of our internal media, polls, and what is dividing us from the inside out. I’m not saying (at all) that we should make heads roll across the world, …..but we damn sure better get unified here at home base, for the world is (and has been) watching closely. They are successfully exploiting our weakness, ....and that is our division. The Bush administration was right about one thing, this war on terror is going to be a LONG one. The world is spinning against us as it is, …..we shouldn’t ad to the carousel here at home by "spinning" more in the press, and certainly not from a loud speaker like our media that spans this very globe. For this much is true; the world is listening, watching, taking notes, and waiting. The game-clock started ticking a long, long time ago whether we wanted it to or not. United we stand, divided we fall.
